A Massive New Japanese Restaurant Concept Is Coming To The Arts District
Los Angeles' love for the izakaya continues to grow as the team behind international izakaya brand Zuma has announced plans for its first foray into the city. (Side note: is the izakaya replacing Israeli food as the "it" cuisine?)
According to Eater LA, the new Japanese concept will be taking over an 8,000-square-foot space next to the Arts District's Manuela/Hauser & Wirth gallery, at 249 South Garey Street.
But will it be an izakaya? The details are a bit thin, at the moment. A spokesperson for the new restaurant told LAist "the concept opening is not Zuma. It’s an entirely new concept from the same ownership team. ...What I can say is that it will be Japanese and it will be stunning!"
Zuma opened its first izakaya and grill in London, and has since expanded globally, with U.S. locations in New York, Las Vega, and Miami.
Zuma not only joins Tao as the latest East Asian-centric mega-restaurant import, but also joins a slew of izakayas that have opened this year, including Osen Izakaya and Tsubaki. Expect the new concept from the Zuma team by the end of 2017.
