Support your source for local news!
The local news you read here every day is crafted for you, but right now, we need your help to keep it going. In these uncertain times, your support is even more important. Today, put a dollar value on the trustworthy reporting you rely on all year long. We can't hold those in power accountable and uplift voices from the community without your partnership.

The weekend is so close you can practically taste it. Here are the edible events going on in the next few days to keep you occupied -- and sated, for that matter.

Ditmas Kitchen Opening:

Chef Alex Reznik, who you might remember as the pea puree guy from "Top Chef," opened Ditmas Kitchen this Thursday. His Pico-Robertson neighborhood restaurant is serving kosher eats in the form of shareable plates like soft pretzels with horseradish mustard; whitefish rillettes with brioche; short-rib flatbread with salsa verde and Fresno chiles; salmon pastrami with parsnip puree; and duck consomme with schmaltz matzo balls. There's also a craft cocktail bar that focusses on seasonal ingredients and small batch spirits. And they're open late too, with service going daily from 4 p.m. to midnight. You can find out more info on their Facebook page here.

Wine Tasting at Rosso:

Looking for some interesting wines to serve at your NYE party? Head over to Rosso Wine Shop, located where Glendale meets Montrose, for their weekend wine tasting. For $10, you'll sip on a flight of three wines with the local community. The varietals that'll be poured are updated on their site here.

Pre-NYE Detox:

You've been ravaging your body with booze and amazing eats, and now it's almost time for the final shebang. Take a day to get your body set straight. Go get a mani/pedi, throw down a good workout, and grab a fresh juice at one of our favorite juice bars. Multiple dayjuice cleanses aren't our favorite things in the world (it's just too much sugar and not enough chewing), but going macro for a dayor choosing fresh, meat-free foods will help you to feel fresh for the last hoorah of 2013.
