3 Ways To Eat Your Way Though The Weekend

The weekend is so close you can practically taste it. Here are the edible events going on in the next few days to keep you occupied—and sated, for that matter.
Pizza And Wine Pairing: You can get all fancy and highfalutin' with your wine pairings if you want to, but one of the world's greatest matches is wine and pizza. This Sunday, DeSano is going to be serving up slices at domaineLA's Sicilian wine tasting from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. For $20 guests will taste their way through eight different Sicilian wines accompanied by DeSano's Neapolitan pies. Sure beats your average Sunday supper. You can find out more info here.
All Star Chef Classic at LA Live: It's been said that food is the new rock, but is food the new sport? If this weekend'sAll-Star Chef Classic at L.A. Live is any indicator, then yeah, it sure is. The event will feature 25 highly acclaimed chefs from around the globe will include a 250-person “French Masters” five course dinner in the "restaurant stadium" setting. The event's organizers Krissy Lefebvre and Lucy Lean have partnered with AEG to make it all happen. Chefs on the roster include Iñaki Aizpitarte, Roy Choi, Michael Cimarusti, Josiah Citrin, Dominique Crenn, Vinny Dotolo, Wylie Dufresne, Graham Elliot, Jennifer Jasinski, Gavin Kaysen, Ludo Lefebvre, David LeFevre, Donald Link, Waylynn Lucas, Marc Meneau, David Myers, Nancy Oakes, Alain Passard, Naomi Pomeroy, Paul Qui, Alex Seidel, Jon Shook, Nancy Silverton, and Ricardo Zarate. $1 Sammies At Fickle: We may have given the folks at Fickle a hard time about the unfortunate naming of their zeitgeisty restaurant, but they've been around for a year now, so the joke's on us. To celebrate their first anniversary, Fickle and the attached Sandwich Smith in Little Tokyo are offering $1 specials Saturday, and Monday to Thursday. The Sandwich Smith will be selling its original chicken sandwich with buttermilk fried chicken, garlic aioli, cheddar cheese, creamy coleslaw, pickle chips and tomato for $1 on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Craft beers are going for $3 too. You can find out more info on their sitehere.
As Editor-in-Chief of our newsroom, I’m extremely proud of the work our top-notch journalists are doing here at LAist. We’re doing more hard-hitting watchdog journalism than ever before — powerful reporting on the economy, elections, climate and the homelessness crisis that is making a difference in your lives. At the same time, it’s never been more difficult to maintain a paywall-free, independent news source that informs, inspires, and engages everyone.
Simply put, we cannot do this essential work without your help. Federal funding for public media has been clawed back by Congress and that means LAist has lost $3.4 million in federal funding over the next two years. So we’re asking for your help. LAist has been there for you and we’re asking you to be here for us.
We rely on donations from readers like you to stay independent, which keeps our nonprofit newsroom strong and accountable to you.
No matter where you stand on the political spectrum, press freedom is at the core of keeping our nation free and fair. And as the landscape of free press changes, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust, but the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news from our community.
Please take action today to support your trusted source for local news with a donation that makes sense for your budget.
Thank you for your generous support and believing in independent news.
