Rock and Roll Trader Joe's
First we had a rock and roll Dennys, and a rock and roll Ralph's, now we have a rock and roll Trader Joe's in West Hollywood. The Trader Joe's is in the former Virgin Megastore Complex at Sunset and Crescent Heights and occupies the space that was once Sam Ash.
The little grocery, near the Laemmle Sunset 5, decided to go for a rock theme. After buying up old albums and posters from Amoeba, they collaged the front of the store to look like your bedroom back when you were 16. A previous employee, now working at another Trader Joe's, David Natale, hand' painted some mind-blowing wooden artworks of jazz and blues greats Monk, Migus, BB King and Miles Davis with subtle purple petals. It is as if they are giant flowers growing out of the floral department.
These photos are just a taste. Visit the store and check it out yourself. If you park on P3, the elevator goes directly to Trader Joe's. Trader Joe's with ample parking is seriously a miracle, and they validate for an hour and a half. The elevator is also tiled with album covers. So are you ready to rock? And eat some killer chicken salad?
