  • The California Independent System Operator (CAISO), charged with managing the electricity grid in California, has issued a Flex Alert for both tomorrow and Thursday due to the current hot weather and demand for electricity, which is approaching capacity. Flex it by turning off unnecessary lights, turn ing AC up to 78 degrees or higher and not using major appliances until after 7:00 PM
  • Free jazz tonight at Hollywood and Highland along with a wine and cheese tasting (that part costs $10).
  • Calling all Guitar Heroes: Guitar Center to hit the Westside at Pico and Westwood Boulevards.
  • Protesting bad customer service and experiences on airlines won't get you far: "we’re stuck with the current system, because it isn’t really in any airline’s interest to try to change it. As long as no airline makes a dedicated effort to distinguish itself from the pack, all the airlines can stay lean, even at the expense of quality."
  • Moving Downtown means living on a permanent set: FilmLA issued 25 notifications of filming between last Sunday and today.
  • SOLA means South LA and tonight the women of GOGA, a girls only bicycle club, will do about a 20-mile bike ride to there from the "The Bicycle District (Melrose/Heliotrope)."
  • One guy drunk + one guy speeding = speeding motorcycle crashes in to rear of drunk guys car, motorcycle kid's body hangs out of the back of the car as car drives home.
  • LAPD says "They weren't very good at it." A construction company owner, a housekeeper in a leopard-print dress and a day laborer went on a violent crime spree Saturday afternoon robbing at least 9 men before getting caught. "All but one of the known robberies took place Saturday between 1:10 p.m. and 3 p.m... As the spree continued, reports began flooding the North Hollywood Division." Play by play at Daily News.
  • The Mount Hollywood hiking trail at Griffith Park has reopened after the huge fire in May.
  • Phil Spector's lead attorney walked out yesterday telling the judge that "there's nothing I can do for Mr. Spector. I can no longer effectively represent him."
