YG kicked off his "F— Donald Trump" tour in San Diego last night with a little bit of help from his fans.

The Compton rapper has been one of the up-and-coming stars in hip hop over the last few years, but he caught the attention of a much wider audience earlier this year with the release of his song "FDT" which stands for—you guessed it—"F— Donald Trump." YG told TMZ that he got a few calls from Secret Service about the song (which is par for the course as far as these things go) but the song was still included on this latest album Still Brazy, and even got a remix featuring G-Eazy and Macklemore. We've embedded the original version below because it includes a thoughtful message from YG and guest emcee Nipsey Hussle about the upcoming election (and because Macklemore is wack):

At last night's concert, YG brought fans up on stage to pummel a piñata that was fashioned after Trump. Before introducing the effigy, YG explained that he decided to call his concert the "Fuck Donald Trump" tour because the Republican candidate was "so disrespectful" to blacks and Hispanics. After the destruction he went right into a performance of "FDT."

Donald Trump piñatas have been a popular item ever since the supposed-billionaire and somehow-presidential candidate made remarks that Mexican immigrants in the United States were criminals and rapists. We can only assume that YG is stocked with enough piñatas for the rest of his tour.

At LAist, we believe in journalism without censorship and the right of a free press to speak truth to those in power. Our hard-hitting watchdog reporting on local government, climate, and the ongoing housing and homelessness crisis is trustworthy, independent and freely accessible to everyone thanks to the support of readers like you.

But the game has changed: Congress voted to eliminate funding for public media across the country. Here at LAist that means a loss of $1.7 million in our budget every year. We want to assure you that despite growing threats to free press and free speech, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust. Speaking frankly, the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news in our community.

We’re asking you to stand up for independent reporting that will not be silenced. With more individuals like you supporting this public service, we can continue to provide essential coverage for Southern Californians that you can’t find anywhere else. Thank you for your generous support and belief in the value of independent news.
