Today NBC launched a 24-hour cable channel in New York called "New York Non-Stop", replete with expanded news coverage, on-location stories, and interactive elements. When can LA expect the same investment? If, like us, you've been too cheap to buy a subscription to HBO, and too lazy to queue up every season of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "Entourage" in your Netflix, you can expect to hear, by the end of the month, about those shows appearing in syndication on a now-unknown cable operator. Let the bidding begin.

This week's New Yorker features D.T. Max's profile of writer/director Tony Gilroy (think Bourne and the upcoming Duplicity) - the future of TV will be determined by its success in getting Gilroy's brand of intensity and character development to the small screen. Check it out.

The humiliation-fest known as "Dancing with the Stars" starts again tonight - check out our review of the "Code Monkeys" DVD earlier, because Steve Wozniak (pictured above) is getting double-billing here at LAist [vote for the Woz tonight!!!]. It's Monday, so really, we're just hoping to survive until Letterman gets on and does his endlessly funny schtick with the forever-affronted Jungle Jack Hanna - it's been that kind of day.

The TV Junkie Plan: "Top Gear", "24", "Saving Grace", Letterman, Ferguson
