Turns Out Kanye Was Just Being A Jerk After All

Some people thought that perhaps Kanye West was just making fun of himself when he interrupted Beck's Grammy win for Album of the Year last night. Kanye put those rumors of self-awareness to rest by later ranting about how Beck should have given his Grammy to Beyoncé. Kanye jumped up on stage as Beck received his Album of the Year Grammy for Morning Phase, winning out over Sam Smith, Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran and Pharrell Williams. Kanye, however, did not quite repeat his 2009 moment with Taylor Swift. Instead, he made a 'forgot it' motion and left the stage. It seemed to some like Kanye was just poking fun at his previous self. However, during an interview with E! at the E! After Party, Kanye explained his actions further.

"Beck needs to respect artistry and he should have given his award to Beyoncé," Kanye said. "At this point, we tired of it because what happens is when you keep on diminishing art and not respecting the craft and smacking people in the face after they deliver monumental feats in music, you're disrespectful to inspiration." Kanye went on to point out that he not only had a wife and daughter, but a clothing line and these responsibilities are why he chose not to actually say anything. However, he notes, "you all knew what it meant when 'Ye stepped on that stage."

His wife Kim Kardashian, who stood idly by for most of the rant, said she wished Kanye did say something. Then, in a longer clip posted on YouTube, you can see that Kanye went on about how he had taken the "E!" logo off his microphone during the interview because it wasn't tasteful.

Beck agreed with Kanye, saying Beyoncé should have "absolutely" won Album of the Year, US Magazine reports. "I thought she was going to win. Come on, she's Beyoncé!" he said. He also claimed that he wasn't upset that Kanye stormed his moment and said he thinks Kanye is a genius.
