Truth matters. Community matters. Your support makes both possible. LAist is one of the few places where news remains independent and free from political and corporate influence. Stand up for truth and for LAist. Make your year-end tax-deductible gift now.

Lotta Living, the online community devoted to preserving historic L.A. and Mid Century modernism, presents its MONDO LOUNGE! on Saturday, October 16 starting at the Hollywood Heritage Museum, 2100 North Highland Avenue in Hollywood. The day-long event celebrates all things retro, vintage, tiki, car culture, modern, space age, bachelor pad, swingtime, etc.

Don't miss the car rally which will visit historic Hollywood and Mid-Century Modern architectural landmarks.

If you can't make the rally and daytime tours, you still have a chance to get your Tiki on at a party held at a Masonic Lodge in the Los Feliz. Attendees are encouraged to dress up in their vintage finery.

The event will culiminate at midnight with a screening of Olive or Twist?, a "docucomedy" dramatizing one man's obsession with the martini. The Vista Theater will admit the first 300 patrons for free.

Be There or Be Square!

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our connected community. We are free to tell the full truth, to hold power to account without fear or favor, and to follow facts wherever they lead. Our only loyalty is to our audiences and our mission: to inform, engage, and strengthen our community.

Right now, LAist has lost $1.7M in annual funding due to Congress clawing back money already approved. The support we receive before year-end will determine how fully our newsroom can continue informing, serving, and strengthening Southern California.
