Richie Hass Memorial Benefit Tomorrow

This story is free to read because readers choose to support LAist. If you find value in independent local reporting, make a donation to power our newsroom today.

To celebrate the life and music of Richie Hass, a local musician who passed away in March from Myeloma, his friends have organized a marathon benefit concert tomorrow at the Echoplex. Many of the bands Richie once played with will be performing, and include some of the best punk, jazz, and experimental bands in LA.

Saccharine Trust, one of LA's old school punk bands will be playing their jazz-punk fusion in tribute to Richie, who joined them on vibes in recent years. Also on the bill is the twangy R&B/rockabilly/Western swing of Freehead, with whom Richie played bass. Freehead is fronted by Jim Smith, co-creator of Ren and Stimpy, who performs the theme song. Jon Wahl's The Amadans, for whom Richie played vibes, will be contributing their experimental vocal stylings and intense musical riffs.

Other bands performing are Dos(with Mike Watt and Kira Roessler), Nels Cline, Fatso Jetson, and countless other friends of Richie.

This all-ages benefit show is only $7. Doors open at 4pm. Bands start at 4:15pm Sunday. Proceeds will be contributed to the International Myeloma Foundation
