After a surprise set at the Echoplex last week, The Rolling Stones officially kicked off their “50 and Counting” Tour last night at Los Angeles’ Staples Center. The 23-song set included many usual suspects ("Brown Sugar," "Jumpin Jack Flash," "Gimme Shelter"), the pair of new tunes from last year ("Doom and Gloom," "One More Shot"), and a few select rarities ("Factory Girl," "The Last Time"). But the absolute high point of the night was the live debut of falsetto-drenched "Emotional Rescue." Watch the fantastic performance below.
There were guest stars galore, including Gwen Stefani (“Wild Horses”), Keith Urban (“Respectable”), former guitarist Mick Taylor (“Midnight Rambler”), the UCLA Bruin Marching Band (on opener “Get Off My Cloud”), and the CSULB Bob Cole Conservatory Chamber Choir (for the encore performance of “You Can’t Always Get What You Want”). They play the Oracle Center in Oakland on Sunday and HP Pavilion in San Jose on Wednesday.
