Paul Reubens Says New Pee-wee Movie Is 'Very Imminent'
Paul Reubens says that there is definitely another Pee-wee Herman movie in the works and that filming will begin soon.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Reubens, 62, discussed the release of all the Pee-wee's Playhouse episodes on Blu-Ray. Reubens also dropped that a new Pee-wee movie will be filming in early 2015 with more details coming very soon.
"I wish I could tell you about it right now, because…I mean, it’s amazing. It’s going to be amazing. It think it first got leaked four years ago or so that the movie was going to be made, and ever since then it’s just been stalling and stalling. So I'm really ready for this to happen. But I’m not kidding: It’s very imminent.
Pee-wee's Playhouse aired on CBS from 1986 until 1991. The first Pee-wee film, Pee-wee's Big Adventure came out in '85 and was directed by Tim Burton, followed by Randal Kleiser'sBig Top Pee-wee in 1988. Rumors about a third Pee-wee flick have been circulating for several years. While attending ComicCon in 2011, Reubens told MTV that he wanted Justin Bieber to make a cameo in the film.
As we wait for more on the third Pee-wee movie, you can watch this classic scene from Pee-wee's Big Adventure where Pee-wee Herman uses the art of dance to get out of a bar brawl.
