Pat Sajak Exaggerated 'Wheel of Fortune' Drinking Claims
For those of you still cackling over the fact that Pat Sajak and Vanna White were wasted while hosting "Wheel of Fortune," we have some disappointing news: Sajak says he exaggerated a little bit. Sajak told ABC News:
“To be honest, and I hate to put an end to this drinking thing because we’ve gotten a lot of mileage out of it, but it was probably a half a dozen times we went across the street and had a margarita."
What a letdown. Sajak added that had he been as drunk as he claimed to have been -- he said that sometimes he and Vanna downed as many as six margaritas between tapings -- he probably wouldn't have been able to do his job if that were indeed the case: "In truth, you really can’t do television if you’re stumbling all over the place."
Still, we have to give Sajak props for issuing one of the most relaxed, no-big-deal statements ever in the face of an internet crisis.
“It is funny that on a little show on a little cable network, we’re doing a fun interview, two guys joking around and making a joke about having margaritas thirty years ago and it turns into, you know, a thing for a day,” said Sajak. “But it is the nature of the echo chamber now and here we are. So, let’s all enjoy it!”
Maybe he has a second career as a PR rep?
