The 1980s Movie 'Overboard' Is Getting A Remake
Have you ever had to explain the plot of the 1980s Garry Marshall movie Overboard to anyone? Here's how I usually break it down: man finds woman with amnesia, kidnaps her, lies to her, terrorizes her, rapes her, makes her his house slave, and then they live happily ever after. Romantic comedies have really lost their edge, eh?
Anyway, this is getting a remake! But since it's 2017, the gender roles are being reversed. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Anna Faris and Eugenio Derbez will star, taking on the roles of Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn, respectively—"The update switches the combo and will see a spoiled playboy from one of Mexico’s wealthiest families (Derbez) who falls overboard off his yacht, and is convinced by a single, working class mom (Faris) that he is her husband."
This is just like how the remake of Splash—another movie about a man finding a woman in the water and taking her home for sex reasons—will have Jillian Bell playing Tom Hanks's role, and Channing Tatum a merman.
Anyway, filming starts in May!
