If you're heading to Dodger Stadium this Sunday, you'll be in for more than just a delicious hot dog and fearing for your life in the parking lot -- Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx is throwing the game's ceremonial first pitch.

Sixx is kicking off the Dodgers' game against the Houston Astros. It's not clear exactly what he's promoting why he was chosen to throw out the pitch, but in an email, his publicist reminds us that he's also a founder of the band Sixx:A.M., and the author of two books, "The Heroin Diaries" and "This Is Gonna Hurt."

So, there's that.

Also -- and maybe more to the point -- on Facebook, Sixx reminded his fans of his history with the team and with the city:

This Sunday the Los Angeles Dodgers have asked me to throw out the 1st pitch of the game.Being from Los Angeles this is a a huge honor for me.I don't know if any of you remember but I was part of the Dodgers billboard campaign a few years ago..The whole Sixx Sense gang,my kids and Courtney are all going...Bad ass...:)

It seemed until now that new Dodgers owner Magic Johnson was trying his damndest to make the stadium seem family-friendly in the wake of the Bryan Stow beating -- recently, adorable English toddler phenomenons Sophia Grace and Rosie threw out a pitch.

Maybe Johnson is trying to give the game back a bit of an edge? Who knows. Anyway, the pitch will be thrown around 1:10 p.m. Good luck out there, Sixx.
