Mariah Carey Becomes Butterfly, Will be New 'American Idol' Judge
Well, it's official -- reality TV is now an acceptable stop along the career paths of high-profile pop and rock singers. Following in the hallowed footsteps of Jennifer Lopez, Paula Abdul and Steven Tyler, Mariah Carey has signed on as a judge of "American Idol."
Carey will make her debut next season, and Entertainment Weekly reports that she's getting paid upwards of $12 million for the season.
Carey was confirmed only after Jennifer Lopez announced that she definitely was not coming back, which is kind of too bad, because nothing would say "ratings" like an ongoing catfight between to massive pop star divas.
We'd totally watch.
