Video: Madonna Speaks Out About Kissing Drake At Coachella

With our free press under threat and federal funding for public media gone, your support matters more than ever. Help keep the LAist newsroom strong, become a monthly member or increase your support today during our fall member drive.

It's been less than a month since Madonna surprised Drake with a big, wet kiss on stage at Coachella, and we got to see the rapper's infamous response: him hunched over looking pretty disgusted. Well, Madonna has some things to say about that it—and her comments are just as confusing as the kiss itself.

During an "Ask Anything Chat" for Live with Romeo Saturday Night Online over the weekend, a couple of fans had some burning questions for the 56-year-old pop diva about the kiss. One asked her if Drake, 28, is a good kisser. Madonna's response was a direct quote off of a Katy Perry track, saying "I kissed a girl, and I liked it." She followed that with a wink. Although we're well aware that she has a penchant for kissing performers on stage like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Miley Cyrus, that doesn't quite answer the question. Maybe she'll stick to locking lips with female singers going forward after Drake's horrified reaction. You can see her talking about it in the 2:11-minute mark in the video below:

Another fan later asked Madonna what advice she would give her younger self knowing what she knows now. At the 8-minute mark in the video, Madonna fills up a glass with wine, and then says, "Don't kiss Drake no matter how many times he begs you to." It's a weird diss, but if anything, it shows that she's definitely regretted her on-stage decision.

Shortly after Drake's horrified expression spread across the Internet like wildfire, he tried to defend his reaction. He wrote on Instagram, "Don't misinterpret my shock!! I got to make out with the queen Madonna and I feel [100] about that forever."

At LAist, we believe in journalism without censorship and the right of a free press to speak truth to those in power. Our hard-hitting watchdog reporting on local government, climate, and the ongoing housing and homelessness crisis is trustworthy, independent and freely accessible to everyone thanks to the support of readers like you.

But the game has changed: Congress voted to eliminate funding for public media across the country. Here at LAist that means a loss of $1.7 million in our budget every year. We want to assure you that despite growing threats to free press and free speech, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust. Speaking frankly, the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news in our community.

We’re asking you to stand up for independent reporting that will not be silenced. With more individuals like you supporting this public service, we can continue to provide essential coverage for Southern Californians that you can’t find anywhere else.
