Photos, Video: Ice Cube Rides Goodyear Blimp That Says 'Today Is A Good Day'

Today is a good day for the South L.A. kids of charity group A Place Called Home. As part of a fundraiser to donate money to the nonprofit in conjunction with Goodyear, Ice Cube is riding a blimp emblazoned with the words "ICE CUBE SAYS TODAY IS A GOOD DAY" over the skies of L.A. today.

Here's an Instagram video showing the Goodyear Blimp in motion with the text scrolling in red:

Jon Barco and Andy Dao had launched the "Good Day Blimp" project to raise $25,000 for A Place Called Home's at-risk kids in hopes that they could get Goodyear to write "Ice Cube's a Pimp" all over it. (It has to do with Ice Cube's 1993 hit song, "It Was a Good Day.") Ice Cube and Goodyear then jumped on board, but looks like Barco and Dao didn't quite get the exact phrase they were looking for. But hey, looks like they still did good for A Place Called Home.

This all coincides with the rapper's "It Was a Good Day" track which stand-up comedian Donovan Strain calculated as Jan. 20, 1992 as being Ice Cube's perfect day that inspired the track. Turns out Strain was there for the blimp launch today as well:

Here's Ice Cube signing one of those huge checks (reminiscent of the Publisher's Clearing House type) for the charity:
