Video: Two 'Grannies' Cruise Around Venice In A Lamborghini

Truth matters. Community matters. Your support makes both possible. LAist is one of the few places where news remains independent and free from political and corporate influence. Stand up for truth and for LAist. Make your year-end tax-deductible gift now.

Anyone who thinks that you can't tear up the town in a sports car after a certain age, hasn't seen a certain pair of older ladies cruising the streets of Venice in a Lamborghini.

In a fun video created by the automotive enthusiasts at Donut Media, two grandmothers, Audrey Linden and Peggy Flinn Glenn—who you may remember from another video—take a souped-up Lamborghini Murcielago for a spin around town. And while they may struggle to open the car's scissor doors at first, the charming and hilarious duo quickly get the hang of the luxe ride. From rolling down Abbot Kinney to checking out guys as they stop for groceries, the two share plenty of grandmotherly gems along the way. "You call it Lambo," Audrey explains as they hop in the car. "I call it 'Ghini."

Once they manage to back the car out of the drive way—laughing the whole time—they hit the streets of Venice for their adventure. The duo waves and honks at gawking spectators, shouting grandmotherly "Woo-hoos" as Audrey wonders, "Maybe they'd put us in the Rose Parade."

The self-proclaimed 'Lamborghini Queens' never quite get the car going faster than most of the bicyclists—though Peggy does call out the "dorky" hat and helmet combo of one—preferring to take a flashy cruise down bustling Abbot Kinney. Plus, as Audrey explains, "Yeah, we could tear rubber, but that car ahead of us is just going too damn slow."

It's a good thing those rich jerks who raced sports cars through Beverly Hills last year weren't around, otherwise Audrey and Peggy might have given them a run for their money.

Ultimately, the pairs' joyride takes them to the Ralph's over by Barrington Avenue and Olympic Boulevard, where they stop off to pick up groceries—because that's what you do when you're a couple of grannies with a Lambo. After gossiping about the cute checkout clerk in the store, the two quickly realize the Lamborghini is severely lacking in trunk space and struggle to find a spot for their groceries. Thankfully a kindly gentleman comes to their aid in the parking lot, as Peggy urges Audrey to go chat it up with him.

"When I saw that car, my heart started to pound so fast—major thrill. Definitely one of the highlights of my career," Peggy explains on the Donut Media Facebook page. "We had so much fun. I hope they keep this going by posting some of the outtakes. We drove around in that machine for almost 5 hours of hilarity."
