Disneyland's Next Star Wars Ride Is Coming -- But Not Until January

Galaxy's Edge, Disneyland's Star Wars land, has been blowing minds by making people feeling like they're living inside Star Wars. But there's one thing that may have felt like it was missing -- rides.
There's only been one actual traditional attraction in Galaxy's Edge so far, but that's about to change. OK, maybe not about to change, but it's going to change eventually, and now we know when.
The much-anticipated Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will open this December... in Florida, at Disney World. Even though Galaxy's Edge opened at Disneyland first, it'll be getting the new attraction second -- it opens in Anaheim on Friday, Jan. 17.

In even more of a thumb in the eye to SoCal, that Dec. 5 date is a special one -- Disney noted in a post that it's Walt Disney's birthday, and the opening will be honoring him. Once they're done working there, Disney promises that imagineers will head back to California to finish things off at Disneyland.
Fans are hyped because early indications are that the ride will be pretty epic. Disney's described it as "the most immersive and advanced attraction ever imagined in a Disney Park."
They promise that the ride will put attendees into the middle of a battle between the First Order (bad guys) and the Resistance (good guys). You'll be recruited to join Rey (!) and General Organa (!!) at a secret base, but you get captured by a First Order Star Destroyer on the way. You'll have to break out, escape, protect the base, and avoid Kylo Ren.
