Congress has cut federal funding for public media — a $3.4 million loss for LAist. We count on readers like you to protect our nonprofit newsroom. Become a monthly member and sustain local journalism.

Britney Spears and her agent-turned-fiancé Jason Trawick have called it quits. The pair split amicably after being engaged for the last year, according to TMZ. Sources told the site that it was a "friendly break-up," and the two just grew apart.

This is one of a host of big changes Spears is making to her life. She switched agencies and is heading to CAA. She quit X-Factor, and she's reportedly considering a show in Vegas.

Sources told TMZ that Trawick didn't want to make the announcement about their split until he was taken off of her conservatorship. Lawyers for the conservatorship and Britney's dad Jamie Spears are in court now so today might be the day. The pair have been together for three (relatively drama-free) years.

UPDATE: The pair released statements to Perez Hilton. Spears says, "Jason and I have decided to call off our engagement. I'll always adore him and we will remain great friends." Trawick says, "As this chapter ends for us a new one begins. I love and cherish her and her boys and we will be close forever."
