A crazy cluster of an accident to report on the street in Hollywood this morning, as a dump truck, Metro bus, and car collided on Hollywood Boulevard just west of Highland Avenue, sending at least 30 people to the hospital. The accident appears to have been triggered when the dump truck pulled onto Hollywood Boulevard and ran into the bus, according to a witness who spoke with KTLA news.

The bus then struck a BMW; the young female passenger was able to get out on her own, but firefighters had to extricate the adult female driver by cutting the roof off the vehicle. Both were transported to the hospital.

There were a couple dozen people aboard the Metro bus, and at least 30 of those people have been taken to the hospital for treatment for non-serious injuries.

UPDATE 11:03 AM: A bit more information about the accident has been made available. Officials say the dump truck was unoccupied when it rolled into traffic. "The (bus) operator lost control and spun out of the lane and hit a BMW,'' Metro spokesman Marc Littman said, according to City News Service. The driver was trapped in that BMW for over 20 minutes, and her passenger has been further identified as a 10-year-old girl. The number of victims on the bus has been upped to at least 30.
