A drunk woman driving six children in an SUV got into a rollover crash early this morning in Lancaster, which landed two children in the hospital with major injuries. The woman identified as Stanesha Nicole Allen, 31, of Lake Los Angeles has been charged with a DUI, according to the Los Angeles Times. It's not clear yet what Allen's relationship to all the kids is.
Allen and the six children ranging in age from 10 months old to 11 years old all suffered from mild to major injuries. A 1-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl were airlifted to Antelope Valley Hospital with major injuries, including head trauma. The 1-year old had a foot amputated.
The woman was driving eastbound on East Avenue I in Lancaster around 6 a.m, when she lost control and the vehicle overturned ejecting some of the kids from the SUV, according to California Highway Patrol Sgt. Denise Joslin. Officials are trying to figure out if the children were wearing seat belts and were in their car seats correctly.
Allen will be booked into a county jail facility following her release from the hospital, officials said.
