The driver of a minivan and a dog were killed when the vehicle crashed into a construction site on the 10 Freeway early this morning.

NBC Los Angeles reports that the van hit a flatbed truck at about 4:00 a.m. near Peck Road in El Monte. Two workers were on the truck, and both were injured. They had been picking up orange cones left from an overnight construction project.
