A group of people setting off fireworks late Wednesday night in a Watts housing complex caused a disturbance that ultimately escalated and led to the arrest of three people. During the incident, the suspects allegedly tossed rocks, bottles, and fireworks at Los Angeles police officers, according to City News Service.
The trouble began at around 11:20 p.m. when a call went out to the LAPD's Southeast Station regarding the fireworks being set off at the Nickerson Gardens public housing complex.
Once on scene, several officers were struck with rocks, bottles, and even fireworks.
The incident led to a tactical alert in the area that held officers on duty past the end of their shifts and until 2 a.m. Thursday in the LAPD's South Bureau.
Ultimately, three people were arrested, and one officer suffered a minor injury.
