REMINDER: LAPD Holding Sobriety Checkpoints All Weekend
As part of a Memorial Weekend campaign to tackle drivers who hit the road under the influence, the LAPD is running several checkpoint and a saturation patrol over the holiday long weekend. Earlier this week, the LAPD noted: "Unfortunately, Memorial Day weekend has become an excuse for many to party and drink irresponsibly. As a result, a driver driving under the influence (DUI) is a tremendous public safety concern over the Memorial Day weekend."
Here are the remaining checkpoints:
Saturday, May 28
- Sobriety Checkpoint on Laurel Canyon Boulevard at Paxton Street from 7:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.
- Sobriety Checkpoint on Florence Avenue between Main Street and Broadway 7:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.
Sunday, May 29
- DUI Saturation Patrol in Northeast Area from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The LAPD provides checkpoint information to the media, and believes that campaigns such as this weekend's are about catching those who do not think ahead to arrange for alternate transportation or a designated driver, as well as to take an opportunity to educate the public about the dangers of driving under the influence.
