Nursing Home Resident Fatally Beats Roomie With Metal Pole

A 94-year-old resident of the Palm Terrace Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Laguna Hills has died after being struck in the head by his roommate, 81-year-old William McDougall, with a metal pole, according to the OC Register. The two had never been involved in any incidents prior to last night's violent encounter, a Sheriff's Department spokesperson noted. The pole may have been one used in the room's closet and was used to fatally beat the victim in the head. McDougall has been arrested on suspicion of murder. The motive for the violent confrontation is currently unknown.
