More Grim Sleeper Victims? Clues Could Come From the Killer's Fridge
During a planned press conference held late yesterday afternoon, the Los Angeles Police Department shared photographs of women they believe could be additional victims of serial killer Lonnie Franklin, Jr, known as the Grim Sleeper.
The LAPD have been using photographs collected at Franklin's home to determine how many other potential victims he may have had. He has already been indicted for the murders of ten others. Among the pieces of photographic evidence gathered at his home, the LAPD found the photo identification cards of women discussed yesterday inside Franklin's refrigerator, according to LA Now.
Lead Detective Dennis Kilcoyne said yesterday they found the Hawthorne High School ID card of Ayellah Marshall, the Nevada driver's license of Rolenia Morris, as well as images of Morris in "compromising positions," along with the photo of a third, unidentified, woman inside the fridge, which was in Franklin's garage. Both Marshall and Morris went missing in 2005.
Also in that fridge, "police also found photos of Janecia Peters, one of the 10 women Franklin is accused of killing, as well as a photograph of another person, but that one was too dark to be of any use in the investigation," notes LA Now.
At this stage of the investigation, however, there is no physical evidence that links Franklin to those women, as well as to a few more whose cases or identifications the LAPD are pursuing. Much like when they released a staggering collection of images found in Franklin's home, the LAPD are sharing the photos and the limited information they have about some of the women, in the hopes the public can help determine if they do, indeed, have more murder victims on their hands.
