Bail Set at $5M for Dad Accused of Killing Infant Daughter

The South Gate man accused of killing his 9-month-old daughter has been returned to Los Angeles after he fled to Mexico, where he was ultimately detained, according to the Daily News. 20-year-old Jose Tulio Deras allegedly fought with his wife, then fatally harmed his infant daughter, whose death came as a result of "blunt force trauma injuries."
Deras, a Salvadoran national, was found in Mexico City on Monday where he was detained by local authorities. Yesterday he was turned "over to Customs and Border Protection officers, U.S. Marshals, and Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies."
He was booked last night, and his being held on $5-million bail.
