A San Diego-area couple meeting up with a prospective buyer for their iPhone as advertised on Craigslist wound up the victims of a shooting and an attempted robbery. The two victims had arranged to meet with the buyer, described by CBS8 as a black male, in a McDonald's parking lot. Upon arrival, the buyer got into the couple's BMW, then pulled a gun on the sellers, according to NBC San Diego.

Lt. Paul Rorrison with San Diego police said the buyer-turned-suspect was attempting to rob the couple of the phone and cash.

A struggle ensued among the three inside the vehicle, and the gun went off.

It is not clear how the buyer came to exit the vehicle, though he is reported to have run away. The victims were then able to drive themselves from the scene to a nearby hospital for treatment for non-life threatening gunshot wounds.
