Man Escapes County Jail, Joins Wife to Allegedly Shoot Deputy and Go On Carjacking Spree
Darnell Washington escaped from county jail in San Bernardino County on August 28, and has since teamed up with his wife, Tania. The armed and dangerous duo is now suspected of shooting a deputy with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Sunday and for multiple carjackings this weekend.
The LASD report that the Washingtons are thought to have shot a 39-year-old deputy in South El Monte Sunday morning; the deputy sustained non-life threatening injuries.
The suspects were last seen in South Gate on Sunday, September 2, 2012, at approximately 9:00 A.M. They have obtained vehicles through carjackings, the last reported of which was of a 1996 light blue Plymouth Grand Voyager Mini-Van with California license plate 3PHK484 in South Gare.
Suspect Darnell Washington is described as a male Black, 24-years old, 6’2,” 197 lbs and suspect Tania Washington is described as a female Black, 25-years old, 5’3,” 130 lbs.
The LASD caution the Washingtons are armed and dangerous, and that anyone who sees them should not approach them, but rather call 911 or the LASD immediately.
