Brazen Thief Drives Maserati Right Off Dealership Lot
Authorities are looking for a brazen man who drove himself right off a dealership's lot in the sports car he was supposedly just checking out. The theft took place Wednesday afternoon at around 2 p.m. at Motor Village LA, near the Staples Center.
The suspect, described by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department as a "man with a shaved head," posed as a customer, and asked the salesperson for the ignition key so he could take a listen to the engine of the 2008 Maserati Gran Turismo--a vehicle valued at $75,000.
The salesperson handed over the key to the suspect, who sat in the driver's seat, and started the engine. The sales guy held the driver door open as he stood next to the vehicle. Then the suspect put the car in drive, and drive right off the lot, heading north on Figueroa.
Surveillance video captured the incident, and the LASD hopes someone can identify the bold car thief.
