Keep hanging in there; we are one day out from the weekend. In today's forecast — cooler weather all around.
Let's start with the coast, where it will be cooler — L.A. County beaches will be in the upper 60s to low 70s with low clouds this morning. Moving more to the coastal valleys, expect highs in the 70s to low 80s.
The Santa Monica Mountains will see highs mainly in the 70s and 80s, great hiking weather. The San Gabriel and Santa Ana mountains will be a tad warmer, with highs up to 91 degrees in lower elevations, in the 80s for upper elevations.
Highs in the valleys will continue to be in the mid 80s to low 90s, but still up to 96 degrees in San Bernardino. We'll see highs in the lower 90s for the high desert, and a a couple of degrees cooler for the low desert up to 108 degrees in Coachella valley.
Tonight's lows for most of the Southland will be in the 60s, upper 50s closer to the coast and in the 70s to 80s for Coachella Valley.
Don't get your hopes up for an early fall — forecasters say we will see a warm week next week. But don't forget, L.A. County has extended its pool season to Halloween.
At LAist, we believe in journalism without censorship and the right of a free press to speak truth to those in power. Our hard-hitting watchdog reporting on local government, climate, and the ongoing housing and homelessness crisis is trustworthy, independent and freely accessible to everyone thanks to the support of readers like you.
But the game has changed: Congress voted to eliminate funding for public media across the country. Here at LAist that means a loss of $1.7 million in our budget every year. We want to assure you that despite growing threats to free press and free speech, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust. Speaking frankly, the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news in our community.
We’re asking you to stand up for independent reporting that will not be silenced. With more individuals like you supporting this public service, we can continue to provide essential coverage for Southern Californians that you can’t find anywhere else. Thank you for your generous support and belief in the value of independent news.
