How to check if your home was damaged or lost in the Eaton and Palisades fires

People impacted by the Palisades and Eaton fires can now search damage assessment maps for their home or other address.
These maps are preliminary and will be updated daily as more areas are inspected, according to L.A. County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone.
The red icon means destroyed, orange is major damage, yellow is minor damage, green is affected but with even less damage, and black means no damage.
“If there is not a color icon on your address, it means the building has not yet been inspected,” Marrone said Monday morning.

Researchers found that in drier years, larger animals are more likely to head closer and closer to where people live. -
The report concludes that the water supply was too slow, not too low, and even a functioning reservoir likely wouldn’t have stopped the Palisades Fire.
Eaton Fire
More than 8,600 structures were lost in the Eaton Fire. Officials said about 70% of damage inspections have been completed as of Thursday afternoon.
