Artist: Bitter:Sweet
Album: The Remix Game
Label: Quango
Release Date: September 4th, 2007

I had only ever really listened to the title track to Bitter:Sweet's The Mating Game before I got my hands on this CD of the remixed album. I definitely thought that was a great track by itself but this collection of tunes ended up amazing me. The Mating Game was put out by LA's own Quango Music Groupin Spring of 2006 to much acclaim and this set of remixes should do the same.

Remixologists include the Thievery Corporation, Blackbeard, Fort Knox Five, and Skeewiff among others. Bitter:Sweet had already created transcendent music - loungey trip hop house with unique variations. OK, let's be honest here, the most unique thing about Bitter:Sweet is the sweet and rich voice of Shana Halligan who manages to infuse each song with character and emotion, even the stray track or two that are almost run-of-the-mill house. She also has the added gift of being very beautiful [hey, if Lisa Brenner can go all googly-eyed over Yauch then I can fawn a bit in my posts too].

Since you've already heard Bitter:Sweet, whether you knew it or not, on Grey's Anatomy, Nip/Tuck, Entourage, Desperate Housewives, Men In Trees, and several other shows and movies you will definitely be hearing this CD all over the place in TV's Fall line-up.

The above video clip is for a snippet of the original "Dirty Laundry" track, the Skeewiff remix of that tune is truly fantastic; other notables are the Yes King remix of "The Mating Game", "Bittersweet Faith" tweaked by Thievery Corporation, and a humorous Mr. Sandman-infused version of "Take 2 Blue" by Roy Dubb. The album is out in less than a week, a great way to end Summer.
