Congress has cut federal funding for public media — a $3.4 million loss for LAist. We count on readers like you to protect our nonprofit newsroom. Become a monthly member and sustain local journalism.

Not many details to offer up right now, however the Riverside Drive onramp to the southbound Glendale (2) Freeway in the Silver Lake area has been closed by the California Highway Patrol following the discovery of a dead body in the immediate area, according to City News Service. We will have more information about the case as it becomes available.

UPDATE 7:30 PM: The body has been confirmed to be that of missing Lincoln Heights woman Bree'Anna Guzman.

UPDATE 12:02 PM: The LAPD's Robbery-Homicide is working on an investigation in conjunction with the discovery of the young woman's partially-clothed body. According to a live report aired on KCAL-9, LAPD Cmdr. Andrew Smith says it appears the body was dumped in the bushes, however further details about the presumed crime have not been ascertained. Authorities are also considering if the body is that of any of the women currently listed as missing, including the case of Bree'Anna Guzman, the Lincoln Heights mother of two who stepped out on December 26 to buy cough medicine and hasn't been seen since.

UPDATE 11:10 AM: The coroner's office says the body is that of a woman thought to be in her 20s, according to CNS.

As Editor-in-Chief of our newsroom, I’m extremely proud of the work our top-notch journalists are doing here at LAist. We’re doing more hard-hitting watchdog journalism than ever before — powerful reporting on the economy, elections, climate and the homelessness crisis that is making a difference in your lives. At the same time, it’s never been more difficult to maintain a paywall-free, independent news source that informs, inspires, and engages everyone.

Simply put, we cannot do this essential work without your help. LAist has been there for you and we’re asking you to be here for us.

We rely on donations from readers like you to stay independent, which keeps our nonprofit newsroom strong and accountable to you.

No matter where you stand on the political spectrum, press freedom is at the core of keeping our nation free and fair.
