Bears vs. Cardinals Pre-Game 10/16/07

LAist is on the road in search of the perfect football game. If you saw last night's Monday Night Football spectacular you might agree that we were in the right place at the right time to meet our goal.

We were also in the parking lot of the University of Phoenix Stadium to remind our fellow Angelenos what the NFL is all about. It's about showing up early, tailgating, painting your face, talking trash, breaking up fights, and meeting young ladies. For starters.

Los Angeles might not deserve a pro football team (since we really haven't bitched enough for not having one) but we would probably support one. Hell, if Phoenix, which is a fraction the size of LA can support a team, build a badass stadium with a retractable roof and a grass field that rolls out of the arena and into the parking lot to get sun, then we should be able to have one too.

And if you don't agree, meet us out in the parking lot after the game...

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our connected community. We are free to tell the full truth, to hold power to account without fear or favor, and to follow facts wherever they lead. Our only loyalty is to our audiences and our mission: to inform, engage, and strengthen our community.

Right now, LAist has lost $1.7M in annual funding due to Congress clawing back money already approved. The support we receive from readers like you will determine how fully our newsroom can continue informing, serving, and strengthening Southern California.
