Woman Shot At Baldwin Hills Mall
A woman was injured in a shooting at the Baldwin Hills mall earlier this afternoon.
Around 2:30 p.m. on Monday, a shooting was reported at the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza, located at 3650 West Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. A woman working in the mall says the gunfire sounded like it was coming from near the food court area. "People were screaming and running and being hysterical," Annabel Lemus told the L.A. Times. "My co-worker and I—we have a corner where we have our mop. And we went running over there and hid. It was really scary."
Fire officials told City News Service that the victim is a woman between the age of 19 to 25, and she was shot in the buttocks. ABC 7 says she was "conscious and breathing" as she was being transported to a local hospital.
Police do not have a suspect in custody nor have they released a description of the suspect. The mall is currently closed as investigators gather evidence.
