There's an anonymous hero in Silver Lake whose efforts to make the streets safer were foiled by the law, but locals want to thank him or her for their work.

At the intersection of Coronado and Reservoir Streets, fake traffic cameras and signs that read "STOP: TRAFFIC CAMERA ON" were installed in an effort to keep drivers from blowing through the four-way stop. It seems like they actually worked for the two weeks they were up. "I noticed cars were stopping," Edward Salm told CBS 2.

Residents say that the intersection has been treacherous for a while. "Most of these folks drive too fast down the street, and then zoom right through the four-way stop," said resident Eric Beteille.

Unfortunately for the locals, somebody snitched and the cameras and signs were taken down after they were reported to the Department of Transportation. The cameras did not record anything and were tossed.

"There's no harm that can possibly come from making people stop at a stop sign where they are legally already supposed to be stopping," said Lora Hall. "Mad props to whoever did it."
