Even with a private jet, you still can't expect to haul marijuana from one state to another...and get away with it. On Monday, Lisette Lee, 28, of Beverly Hills found herself under arrest when she arrived at the airport in Columbus, Ohio, after flying in from Van Nuys Airport with one personal assistant, two bodyguards, at least 12 suitcases, and 500 pounds of marijuana, according to LA Now. As a result, "Lee has been charged with conspiracy and possession with the intent to distribute. She is being held without bail pending a hearing Friday in Ohio." Her three companions have all been released. (Photo: Drug Enforcement Agency)

You come to LAist because you want independent reporting and trustworthy local information. Our newsroom doesn’t answer to shareholders looking to turn a profit. Instead, we answer to you and our connected community. We are free to tell the full truth, to hold power to account without fear or favor, and to follow facts wherever they lead. Our only loyalty is to our audiences and our mission: to inform, engage, and strengthen our community.

Right now, LAist has lost $1.7M in annual funding due to Congress clawing back money already approved. The support we receive from readers like you will determine how fully our newsroom can continue informing, serving, and strengthening Southern California.
