Two men are being implicated in a street racing accident that left a 90-year-old woman dead and her son injured in West Covina, reports City News Service.

Cilia La Torre had just left Queen of the Valley Hospital on Christmas night at about 9 p.m. and was secured in a wheelchair in a van when it was hit by another car. The crash sent her flying out of the van, and she was later pronounced dead at the scene. Her son, Jaime Ochoa, who was driving the van, was taken to the hospital and treated for head injuries.

Vincent Lopez, 30, and Victor Hugo Sanchez, 34, of Rialto had reportedly been drinking at a nearby bar, and had been seen racing each other on the streets -- including running a nearby stop sign -- before Lopez drove his car into the van carrying La Torre.

Both men were arrested today for suspicion of felony drunken driving, and will appear in court in West Covina on December 28.
