A 12-year-old boy was fatally stabbed outside an apartment building in Anaheim, reports KTLA.

The boy, whose name hasn't been released, was found lying on the ground by police officers and was taken to a local trauma center where he later died. He's thought to be a student at nearby Sycamore Junior High.

There's no motive or suspect in custody yet, according to the OC Register, although officials suggest that the attacker, who's been described as a male teenager, may be in a gang. The Register adds that streets near where the stabbing took place, including La Palma Ave.between Baxter Street and Anna Drive, will be closed while authorities look for clues.

The stabbing happened around 2:45 today.
