1,114 Arrested on Suspected DUI So Far
It's the weekend. It's a holiday weekend for heaven's sake. Have a beer and chill out. What's the rush to get somewhere?
(AP) LOS ANGELES The California Highway Patrol arrested 1,114 people in California for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol in the first two days of the Labor Day weekend. That's a 23 percent increase from the same time last year, according to the CHP.
Nine people have died so far this holiday weekend on California highways. That's exactly the same as last year. Out of those, one of them occurred on Los Angeles County highways.
CHP has a so-called Maximum Enforcement Program underway throughout the long weekend. All available officers are on duty on local freeways and highways.
