Every time a bell rings: It's a Wonderful Life is on the big-screen tonight in Hollywood.

Here's what we found in happening around town tonight—one of our favorite holiday movies hits the big screen; author Anne Lamott discusses her latest book with Fr. Greg Boyle; It's a School Night at Bardot and book launches at La Luz de Jesus. Read on for all the details.

ZUZU’S PETALS*
Grauman’s Chinese Theatre closes out its 2012 85th birthday celebration with a 25 Cent Movie Monday Screening of It's A Wonderful Life (1946) on the big screen. The Jimmy Stewart classic melts even the Scroogiest of hearts each holiday season. Bring an unwrapped toy tonight (valued at $10 or more) for a needy LA child, and get a free bag of popcorn. Tickets: 25 cents.

BOOKS
La Luz de Jesus Gallery hosts two book events with author appearances and signings tonight from 7-9 pm. The gallery celebrates the launch of Double Talk - A book of Illustrated Homographs by KRK Ryden. It’s a twisted exploration of those words that are spelled alike, yet have different meanings (like bark of a tree or a dog bark). Also launching tonight isBlack Magick - The Art of Chet Zar presents Zar’s work, from his start in the special-effects industry to his fine art works.

MUSIC
It’s a School Night welcomes live music and DJ sets from both up-and-coming and seasoned artists every Monday night at Bardot in Hollywood. On tap tonight are live performances by Willy Moon, Madi Diaz, Harper Blynn and Pop Levi. DJ sets by Jeffrey Jerusalem (Yacht) and a special guest DJ. Free with RSVP for those 21+; $10 for 18+ with RSVP. Doors at 8 pm.

BOOKS ALOUD
Tonight at 7:15 pm, ALOUD at the Central Library welcomes author Anne Lamott, who’ll discuss her latest bookHelp, Thanks, Wow: The Three Essential Prayers. She’ll be in converation with Father Gregory Boyle of Homeboy Industries, talking about three prayers: “asking for assistance from a higher power, appreciating the goodness in our lives, and feeling awe at the world around us....” The event is currently at capacity, so only standby reservations are available.
