    Topline:

Hundreds of students at dozens of schools in the San Gabriel Valley were given new laptops this week as part of L.A. County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis’ “Operation Laptops” initiative, which aims to bridge the digital divide.

Solis says: The supervisor said in a statement that she has seen first-hand how the digital divide has affected students in her district, which includes the San Gabriel Valley. “In an increasingly digital-dependent world, it’s vital that every student, regardless of where they live, how much their family makes or where they come from, has what they need to develop their full academic and social potential,” Solis said.

Who will see the devices? The 473 laptops, which students get to keep, will go to 47 schools across 10 school districts, including Rowland Unified, El Monte Union High School District, Bassett Unified and others. Find out if your school is on the list here.
