    Topline:

Remnants of Tropical Storm Priscilla are bringing some light rain to Southern California, but the National Weather Service says a potentially major storm could sweep across the northern part of L.A. County early next week.

What we know: The potential storm is expected to hit the area Monday through Wednesday, with Tuesday seeing the most rain. Meteorologists say they may not know the true nature of the storm until right before it hits.

‘Highly uncertain’: The storm effects depend on how the low-pressure system from the north tracks. “It could send rain to just San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara, with L.A. getting light rain or nothing; or it could send all the rain to L.A. County and Ventura,” NWS meteorologist Kristan Lund said in a Thursday briefing. “We could see light rain widespread, or we could see heavy rain widespread.”
