This weekend:
Tree lightings and parades around town, the MLS Cup Final, VinylFest, a celebration of Alan Turing at CalTech, and more of the best things to do.
Highlights:
- The first-ever VinylFest is happening at the Grove, where you can check out releases from Amoeba Music and House of Records, groove to live DJ sets, and even cut your own record at Jail Guitar Doors mobile recording studio.
- Lightings galore! Seal Beach and the City of Orange both have big Christmas kick-off events this weekend, Holidayfest lights up Pasadena, and the iconic Venice sign will get its annual green and red glow with a concert Saturday night.
- A special screening at Vidiots of Spartacus for the Roman Empire fans among us, complete with a talkback from Getty curator and Rome expert Sara Cole.
- The last PST Art Weekend is a big bash on Broadway downtown all weekend long with music, art shows, open studios, and film — including the No Prior Art: Inventors Day for all ages at the L.A. Central Library.
- Gift hunting for that perfect present at the Sawdust Festival in Laguna, where there will be over 180 artisans showing their work.
- And a special dance performance Friday and Saturday wraps up Caltech’s Opening Doors series with an interpretation of the work of Alan Turing from the Invertigo Dance Theatre, creatively blending art and science.
