Elon Musk Bores LA With His Underground Tunnel

December 10th is T-Day, the day Elon Musk's first subterranean tunnel under Los Angeles is scheduled to open. The two-mile test tunnel, built by The Boring Company, runs underneath SpaceX's headquarters in Hawthorne -- but where exactly does it stop and start? We don't know.
In typically cryptic Musk fashion, he made the announcement in a string of tweets late yesterday afternoon.
"The first tunnel is almost done," Musk told his 23.1 million followers, around 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018.

In follow-up tweets and replies to people on Twitter, Musk said there would be an opening event for the tunnel on the night of Monday, Dec. 10 and free rides for the public next day, Tuesday, Dec. 11.
He also revealed the tunnel's top speed:155 mph.
In April 2018, the L.A. City Council's public works committee approved an environmental review exemption for the tunnel, which is expected to run 2.7 miles through West L.A. The proposed route would be parallel to Sepulveda starting at Pico Blvd. and running down to Washington Ave. in Culver City.
Back in May, Musk said the tunnel was almost done.
This test tunnel is a proof of concept for an underground public transportation system that will whisk vehicles and people to their destinations via autonomously driven electric platforms known as "skates."
Will this test tunnel be ready to debut on Dec. 10? That's the big question.
