Hikers Find Decomposed Body In Griffith Park
Two hikers discovered a decomposed body in Griffith Park at around 7 p.m. on Monday night.
The L.A. Times reports that the remains were too decomposed for the coroner or police to determine the individual's age or gender. Sgt. Roberto Alaniz of the LAPD Northeast Division told Eastsider LA that the body, which was found near the Fern Dell entrance to the park, is believed to have been in the location for about a month. Foul play is not suspected at this time.
LAPD Officer Mike Lopez told LAist that the investigation has been turned over to the coroner's office. "It's being treated as a death investigation until we hear otherwise from the coroner," Lopez said. "If they find evidence of foul play, it will be treated as a homicide."
