We have some heartbreaking news: Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale have decided to split up.The two, who have been married for 13 years, filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences, according to TMZ. It turns out Stefani, 45, filed for the petition, asking for joint custody of their kids—9-year-old Kingston, 6-year-old Zuma and 1-year-old Apollo. Rossdale, 49, responded with his lawyer the same day, asking for the same thing.

"While the two of us have come to the mutual decision that we will no longer be partners in marriage, we remain partners in parenthood and are committed to jointly raising our three sons in a happy and healthy environment," the couple said in a statement. "To that end, we respectfully request privacy from the media during this time."

The couple first met in 1996 when they were both hitting peak popularity with their bands, Stefani in No Doubt, and Rossdale in Bush. It was a love story for rock stars. They tied the knot in 2002 after they dated for six years.

Last September, Rossdale told Howard Stern how he felt about rumors in a recent OK Magazine cover that the couple was heading to splitsville. "It's so mean spirited," Rossdale said. "I curse that magazine and that girl that wrote that." He also noted that his wife let him know about her pregnancy with their third child via email because he was touring on the road.

In a recent interview with Cosmopolitan in their March 2015 issue, Stefani talked about the difficulties in their relationship: "We go through so much together — it's a miracle that we could stay together this long," Stefani said. "[Gavin's] on a short tour right now, and he wrote me the sweetest note this morning. It's good to have those days when we both do our own things. I think that's what keeps relationships going, when both people can be themselves and have their own individuality. That's especially important for women. It's hard to find time for yourself."

All we have to say is this shit is bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S.
